Richard "Dick" Lloyd Gilbert passed away on February 20, 2021, at the age of 89.  Born in Seattle on July 24, 1931, to Lloyd O. and Evelyn B. Gilbert, he grew up in the Queen Anne area of Seattle and attended Queen Anne High School, where he was a member of the football and tennis teams.  Dick continued playing football and tennis at Central Washington University and graduated in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics.

After college, Dick joined the US Army and served during the Korean war in the South Pacific, where he participated in Operation Castle on the Enewetak Atoll in the Marshall Islands. Dick was always proud of his time in the Army and remained a reservist for 8 years after completing his service.

He married Shirley Woolley in 1955, whom he met while attending CWU. They built a home in Bellevue and raised three children, Teri, Lee, and Jill.  Dick worked in accounting for the Seattle World's Fair, then went onto a successful career at National Cash Register (NCR)  before starting his own company, Applied Computer Corporation.

Dick had a zest for celebrating life.  He loved dancing, entertaining, travel, boating, and adventure.  Dick took his boat, "The Blue Goose," from Seattle to Alaska with friends for fishing and exploring the great Pacific Northwest.  He hiked a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail in 2001, enjoyed river rafting, and traveling in Europe.

In the early 2000s, Dick moved to the town of Brownsville, WA where he remodeled the old family cabin built by his parents in 1929.  He hosted numerous social gatherings, engaging his guests with silly Swedish accents and "Sven and Olie" jokes, all nestled within the peaceful nature of Puget Sound.

For many years, he served his community through the Seafair Commodores, was a member of the Hidden Harbor Yacht Club, and made lifelong friends throughout high school, college, and business, cultivating those relationships throughout his life.

Dick is survived by his three children, four grandchildren and six grand-dogs.  He leaves behind many loved ones that will greatly miss his spirit and love for life.

A graveside service is being held at Grandview Cemetery, 411 Hillcrest Dr. Anacortes, WA on July 31, 2021 at 11:30 am.
