Richard Todd Wheeler passed away peacefully on March 15, 2023 in his Anacortes home. Born in Seattle on December 29, 1930, to James and Dory Wheeler, he lived in the close-knit neighborhood of Mount Baker in Seattle.

He valued and nurtured his friendships from grammar school (John Muir), high school (Lakeside; Franklin) and at the University of Washington. At the U-Dub he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. The memories from this period of his life brought him great joy and gave him wonderful stories to tell all during his living days.

Dick began his sales career at the age of twelve when he learned to drive. Nicknamed "Wheels", he began by selling bikes he had refurbished and moved on to selling boats and cars. When Dick started his real estate career, the population in his town of Bellevue, WA was under 10,000. His timing was perfect and he soon joined with Duncan Wallace to form Wallace and Wheeler Real Estate. No one worked harder than Dick and the company grew to 400 agents and was one of the top grossing firms in the state. He was very proud of this success.

Dick was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 52 years, Gloria. They had a wonderful time together raising a family and creating their memories in Bellevue. During these years they built strong friendships, travelled, boated with the Seattle Yacht Club and cherished their beloved dogs.

Dick loved family as well as the Real Estate business, vacationing in Hawaii and the San Juan islands. He valued his lifelong friendships and was loyal to the core. He is survived by his children: Deb (Craig Westlin); Wendy Hill; and Rich Wheeler, as well as 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. His engaging smile will be missed by all.
