Robert William LaRue III passed from this life on December 9, 2022, at the Puget Sound VA Hospital in Seattle, WA following a six-year struggle with the effects of Agent Orange exposure during his military service.

Bob La Rue was born in Anacortes, WA on July 12, 1946, to Robert W. and Lily (Balderstone) La Rue, the eldest of four children. He was a 1964 graduate of Anacortes High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966 and served a one-year tour of duty in Vietnam 1967-1968. Upon his return, he married Jean M. Olson on July 14, 1968, at Christ Episcopal Church in Anacortes. They made their first home at Fort Benning, GA, where Bob completed his Army enlistment in 1969 and attained the rank of Sergeant.

Bob graduated from Seattle Central Community College, earning an Associate of Arts degree in photography. He worked as a freelance photographer in the Seattle area for a number of years specializing in architectural and technological images for corporate clients. Photography (both as a vocation and avocation) remained his lifelong passion. Bob retired in 2012 from his position as a Quality Control Inspector at Hexcel Aerospace Company in Burlington, WA.

Bob will be remembered for a quick wit and a quirky sense of humor that he always claimed were inherited family traits. He loved his God, his family and his country, in that order. He was a funny, loving, giving, and dependable man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean, their sons, Robert and Joey LaRue, their wives, Maria (Rossal) and Carissa (Black), and 6 grandchildren, who were his great delight. He leaves behind his brother, Larry LaRue, his sister, Melody (LaRue) Seman, and their families. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roger LaRue.
