Roger Allen Pearce, 85, of Anacortes, passed away on January 30, 2026, at Skagit Valley Hospital with his family lovingly by his side.

Roger was born on October 26, 1940, in Mount Vernon, Washington, to Jack and Vivian (Christensen) Pearce. He grew up on the Christensen Farm in Stanwood, a property his grandparents purchased 117 years ago, and it was there that his lifelong love of fixing, tinkering, and taking things apart to understand how they worked first took root.

As a teenager with a passion for cars—especially those with loud mufflers—Roger founded the Idlers Car Club. He graduated from Stanwood Twin City High School and began his college years at Everett Community College. Encouraged by his mother, he later moved to Crown Point, Indiana, to live with cousins while attending Purdue University, where he studied engineering. During his time in Indiana, he was active in Cook Community Church and was deeply influenced by the mentorship of his cousin Patricia Page and Reverend Dub Page.

To earn extra income, Roger wired two new homes at the Cedar Lake Conference grounds. It was there that he met Dorothy Boldt. They married and in 1967 welcomed their son, Scot, after moving back to Tacoma, Washington.

Roger started his work in sales in the mid 1960's by selling office products and finished in 2003 representing manufacturers of circuit boards.

His career took him to many places; Tacoma, Spokane, Salt Lake City, and San Francisco, where he met and married Ellen Beard, moving to Portland in 1977 where his son Tucker was born.

He started his career in circuit boards in the mid 80's, at a time when people were just starting to own personal computers as well as many new up and coming technologies. It was a wild ride.

In the early 80s, Roger started Roger Pearce & Associates and in 1995 Pearce Sales Ltd.

In 1988, mutual friends introduced him to Janet Gray during a vacation in Vancouver, B.C. They married six months later and shared 36 wonderful years together. In 1994, Roger and Janet pulled their camper trailer to Washington Park in Anacortes and immediately fell in love with the community. They moved there in 1995, retired in 2002, and joined First Baptist Church of Anacortes in 2003. Throughout his life, Roger served faithfully in every church he attended, taking on roles such as Deacon, Chairman of Trustees, and Operations Team Leader. At First Baptist, he led the maintenance team and contributed to the church's acoustical improvements—work that perfectly suited his technical mind and generous spirit.

Retirement brought Roger great joy. He and Janet traveled the US in their 36‑foot RV - Roger confidently at the wheel and Janet white‑knuckled beside him. They also enjoyed memorable trips to Europe, Hawaii, and Mexico.

A true craftsman and lifelong learner, Roger pursued many hobbies: G‑scale trains, cameras, photography, woodworking, and anything electrical he could tinker with. If something was broken, Roger could fix it—often better than it was before. Roger was a member of the NW Corner Woodworking Association and volunteered his love of woodworking to several venues including the Skagit Wood Expo, Arts & Crafts Fair and spent days helping build the children's playground at Storvik Park. Before he was unable to stand for any length of time, he built beautiful charcuterie boards for some of his "girls" as gifts.

Roger will be remembered for his curiosity, a "doer" mentality, an unwavering faith, and the deep love he held for his family and community.  He was always comfortable knowing that God was looking out for him, and regardless of situations never felt worried or felt fear.

Roger is survived by his wife, Janet; sons, Scot (Holly) and Tucker (Kristen); step-children, Lesley (Darrell), Michael, and Kelly; brother, Michael (Julie) Pearce; sister, Sandra Swanson; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many family members still living on the farm in Stanwood, and cousins all in the Pacific Northwest.

Visitation for Roger will take place at Evans Funeral Chapel in Anacortes on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest beside his family at Cedar Home Cemetery in Stanwood during a private burial service. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Anacortes, with a reception to follow in the Great Room.
