Ronald Alvin Pederson, 81 of Anacortes, Washington, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great & great-great grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Ron was born on April 14, 1943, to Alvin and Maxine (Adams) Pederson in Seattle,Washington.  He was third of the four children born to them. When Ron was six or seven years of age, the Pederson  family moved to Sitka, Alaska. Ron learned how to fish in Sitka while he was there. In his mid teens, Ron moved to South Seattle to complete his academics.While he was in the high school he decided to join the US Navy and dropped out of high school, to join the US Navy to serve his country honorably during the Vietnam conflict.

After his military service, Ron moved to Anacortes in the late 1950s. He met and married his first wife, Lorretta Russino in 1963. The couple had three children, Greg, Tommy and  Kristina. Tragedy struck the family, first with Tommy contracting Leukemia and passing not long after, then losing Greg to a fatal a skateboard accident. Ron and  Loretta  divorced after a 25-year marriage and remained in amicable terms throughout their lives. Kristina their daughter, lived with Loretta in Redmond.

Ron found love again with Julie Smith and her three sons, Scott, Robin and Brian Cameron.  They tied the knot in 1988 and blended the Cameron and Pederson families. After surviving the loss of his two sons, Ron went through the loss of his two step sons, Robin (in his 60s) and Brian (in his 40s) with Julie.

Ron worked as a grocery clerk before joining Dunlap Towing Co in La Conner as a Cook, when opportunity presented itself, his lack of culinary skills, notwithstanding. He then progressed from Cook to deckhand position and with his strong work ethic, he went on to become the 1st Mate with Dunlap Towing Company, where he worked for 38 years, ultimately retiring in 2000.

Ron enjoyed traveling in his motorhome with Julie, camping with his grandkids, and spending time with his extended family in Montana and in Redmond with his daughter, Kristina, who adopted three wonderful children, Ryan, Paula and Joy adding them to his growing list of  grandchildren.

He is  preceded in death by his parents, sons and stepsons:  siblings: Charles Pederson and Avis   Murphy.  Ron is survived by his wife Julie of 35 years, daughter Kristina; stepson, Scott Cameron, brother, Allan; grandchildren: Ryan, Paula, Joy, Robin, Jonathan, Sam, and Michael; great grandchildren: Kylee, Everett, Etta Lyn, and Gibson; great-grandson, Jayden, and great-great-granddaughter, Aryss.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Salvation Army and Skagit Meals on Wheels in Ron's memory. The Pederson family wishes to thank Dr. Nancy Llewelyn and the nursing staff of Cypress Assisted Living for the great care given to Ron an well as the staff at Island Health (aka Island Hospital).
