Ryan "Woody" Woodruff was born in Portland, Oregon on February 23, 1983, and passed away December 15, 2023.  Growing up in Anacortes, Washington, Ryan was someone you would often find with a big smile that crinkled up his whole face.  Like many Woodruff men, Ryan had a loud voice and big personality; rarely finding himself without a friend or someone willing to help him.

Ryan was a member of his dad's church both Anacortes Christian Church and later New Hope Christian Fellowship of Anacortes.  He attended both Whitney and Mt. Erie Elementary schools in Anacortes and graduated from Anacortes High School in 2001.

As an adult, Ryan worked in various aspects of the Marine industry in Anacortes and surrounding areas. He was proficient in fiberglass repair and boat painting and had opportunities to travel to various locations for his work in his early years after graduation.

Ryan enjoyed activities such as carving driftwood, drawing, watching his favorite sports teams (Go Ducks!), as well as being an avid skateboarder in his youth.  Ryan was at home near the water and as a child enjoyed visiting the Oregon Coast.  Most of all, Ryan loved being a dad.  He loved his son and encouraged him in his natural talents and interests.  Ryan and Talon had a lot of fun and adventures together.

Ryan is survived by his son, Talon (10), his sister Nicole Miller (husband Jason), and his two nephews Elliott (12) and Miles (7) of Springfield, Oregon.  He is loved by many extended family members throughout the West Coast.  Ryan was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Gail Woodruff of Anacortes.

Ryan's struggles with addiction and mental health concerns were evident to those who knew and loved him.  He had periods of success fighting those battles but ultimately succumbed to them.  He is missed; his absence is a heartache that we wish could have been prevented.  We encourage those for whom addiction is an obstacle in their life to seek support, treatment, and to reach out to their loved ones.  You are not forgotten.

On May 18th, 2024, an urn committal service will be held at Fern Hill Cemetery in Anacortes at 2pm followed by a hosted reception beginning at 4pm at Village Pizza in Anacortes.  Family and friends are welcome to attend either or both gatherings.
