Steven Joseph Bozanich, 69, of Bellevue, Washington, passed away at his residence on August 15, 2026. He was born January 15, 1957, in Seattle, the son of Tony Louis Bozanich and Patricia Ann (Ferschweiler) Bozanich.
Steve grew up in Bellevue from the age of five. Those who knew him as a boy remember a child who loved a pretend radio station where he would make imagined broadcasts, long afternoons by the creek with his siblings, favorite trains and Tonka toys, and climbing trees. He graduated from O’Dea High School in Seattle and later earned an Associate degree from Skagit Valley College.
Steve worked in numerous roles throughout his career, and he was most known for the time he spent in the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier. He also enjoyed years spent commercial fishing in Puget Sound and Southeast Alaska with his father and family—work that left a lasting mark of self-reliance and pride. In his retirement, he took particular satisfaction in renovating and repairing his grandmother’s house, and when his parents’ health declined, Steve became their primary caregiver.
Steve’s pleasures were simple and steadfast. He loved old television and movies—Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol was a particular favorite—along with 1960s shows such as The Streets of San Francisco. He enjoyed a glass of milk with homemade cookies or Chips Ahoy, visits to Eastern Washington and Montana, riding the lawn mower, and working on classic cars. His proudest restoration was a 1966 Cadillac; he owned and brought back completely. He found peace in solitude and kept largely to himself, yet he had a deep affection for animals, especially his cat, Kitty Baby, and all the family pets.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Patricia Bozanich. He never married and is survived by his brother, Mark Bozanich (Debbie); and his sisters, Mary Jo Bolte (Russ) and Diane Bozanich Ratley; numerous nephews, nieces, along with many other family members and friends who will remember his quiet loyalty and the care he gave his parents.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Steve at St. Mary Church in Anacortes, WA on Saturday October 3, 2026, at 10am. He will be laid to rest at St. Francis Cemetery in Friday Harbor, WA.
