It is with saddened hearts, we announce the passing of Warren James Johnson, 87, of Anacortes, on May 2, 2024 at his residence, after his brief battle with pancreatic cancer.  He was surrounded by his loving wife and family.  Warren was born in Bremerton on March 2, 1937, the son of Jim and Lois Johnson and brother to his only sister, Sharleen, whom he grew up with.

After graduating from Central Kitsap High School, Warren attended LeTourneau Technical College in Texas on a basketball scholarship.  Warren joined the Washington State Patrol in October 1961 and retired in 1985.  One of his many responsibilities was providing security details for dignitaries and celebrities.  Notable ones being the security detail for Governor Dan Evans and his family when they visited the San Juan Islands and for the late actor John Wayne.

Warren had his own Gillnetter boat, named Lori-Dean, after his children, Lori and Dean, whom he took fishing on occasion in the waters of San Juan Islands throughout the 1970s. He took up commercial fishing in Alaska, during summers, after his tenure with the Washington State patrol ended.  He had a strong Christian faith and was the beloved Patriarch of his family.

Warren is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; his sister, Sharleen Foerster; children and their spouses, Lori Johnson (James Dimock),  Dean (Ulli) Johnson; grandchildren, Elizabeth Pixley, Kenzi Mayer, Katrina Johnson (Jess Schultz), Claire (Scott Briggs), Zion Johnson, Dylan Petersen, Skyler Petersen; and Warren's beloved dog,Windy.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, Karl Foerster.

Warren, we will always carry your memory in our hearts.  You were deeply loved and will be deeply missed. Eternal Memory.
