Wayne Donald
Norgard
Apr 22, 1937 — Aug 18, 2025
Anacortes
Wayne Donald Norgard was born in Shelton, Washington and moved to Anacortes in 1940. He was raised in a Swede-Finn household with his parents, Edla Sofia and Charles Hendrik, and his two siblings, Art and Gladys. He played with his neighborhood friends in the woods where Anacortes Middle School now stands.
Wayne began working at the Plywood Mill in high school. He left to serve in the Navy for four years, where he was stationed in San Diego. Wayne met his soon to be wife, Susie, on a blind date in Seattle. They married in 1971. They had three children: Becky, Debbie (Shawn) and Bryan (Kathryn). Wayne was a wonderful father. He told his children they could be anything, and they believed it. His biggest dream for his children was that they knew Jesus and that they were happy.
Wayne always had a great work ethic. He retired as an electrician from Tesoro Oil Refinery and enjoyed the good life with Susie. They worked on projects at home, walked their rescue dogs and played with their three grandchildren: Abigail, Charles and Sofia.
Wayne was known for the twinkle in his blue eyes, his quick wit and endless caring nature. He was generous, humble and creative. Wayne's passion was woodworking. In fact, he built his family home where his wife still lives today.
He spent his last year and a half at the Lighthouse Memory Care where he was surrounded by fun, laughter and love by its terrific staff and incredible residents.
The most important thing to Wayne was his faith and his love of Jesus. Wayne knew where he was going after this life and he knew that he would finally hear his Father say, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
