William Andrew "Andy" Gieger of Eastsound was born November 4, 1968, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Gerald & Frances Gieger of Everman, Texas. His given names come from multiple grandfathers, both paternal and maternal.

Andy was a joyful child who grew up in a large close-knit family and attended Everman schools.  He accepted everyone as his friend. His mother often found him standing on the shoulder of the County Road, waving at every car that passed.  When he was eight years old, he was backed over by a car, while pulling a red wagon across the parking lot of a nearby convenience store. The wagon was filled with pop-bottles that he was taking to redeem. As they loaded him into the ambulance, he instructed the policeman to keep watch over them until he got back. It was a miracle from God that he had no broken bones. He said an Angel was holding up the car, while he was on the underside.  At the Hospital, the Nuns were amazed.

He graduated from Fort Worth's Southwest High School in May of 1987 and entered the US Navy in January of 1988, under the Sea College Program. Following Boot-Camp at Great Lakes Naval Training Center, He was stationed at Whidbey Island, Washington, and assigned to the USS Nimitz (CVN-68) as a plane captain for EA-6B Prowler aircraft.  After two years of mostly sea duty, he returned to western Washington where he was assigned to the USS Independence (CV-62) and entered College while operating a landscape business.  In 1990, he was recalled to active duty in the Desert Storm conflict of the Gulf War and assigned to the "Top-Gun" USS Ranger (CV-61), flagship of the Persian Gulf fleet.

After leaving the Navy for college, Andy became a craftsman home builder, engaged in ornate workmanship. He first reconstructed a Victorian Gingerbread home in Bellingham, Washington, duplicating the ornate moldings and interior to its original form.  He then built a three-story home at Eastsound on Orcas Island in the Puget Sound.  It was a unique timber-frame structure constructed from a Pennsylvania bank barn. The old barn was disassembled in western Pennsylvania and trucked to Orcas, then reassembled with innovative Strawbale construction which provided excellent insulation from the Pacific storms that blow in winter. The home required minimal heating and cooling.  His workmanship was featured on HGTV.

Andy loved the outdoors. He spent many summers with his brothers at his Grandparent's farm home in Northeast Texas.  He would go to the woods and just trek around in the pasture, looking for arrowheads, rabbits, squirrels, and other wildlife, fishing in the water tanks. or just counting his Granddad's cows. Perhaps those young-life experiences influenced his love for the great Northwest.

He was a pioneer, born out-of-season. When he was fourteen, he was inducted into the Frontiersmen Camping Fraternity, a youth ministry of the Assemblies of God, and participated in their National Jamboree at Hungry Horse, Montana.  Andy grew up playing boy's baseball and was an accomplished pitcher.  Andy's musical hobby was Drums, where he sat for hours, playing along with recorded music. He sang along as backup.

Andy joined his mother, his older brother Greg, his nephew Andrew, his grandparents, and loving Savior, Jesus, in Heaven on April 29, 2026.  He is survived by his son, William Seabern of Anacortes, his wife Beth of Bellingham, his father Gerald & wife Sharon of Burleson Texas, his sisters Debbie Hail & husband Don of Anna Texas, Karen McLaughlin & husband Billy Jack of Joshua Texas, SharonKay Warren of Everman Texas, his brothers, Philip & wife LeAnna of So. Annetta Texas,  Bradley & wife Megan of Snohomish Washington, & many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

Burial will be in Texas on former lands of his namesake great-grandfather at a date to be determined.
