William C
Durkee
Mar 16, 1932 — Dec 16, 2025
Tacoma
William "Bill" Charles Durkee passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, at his residence. He was born on March 16, 1932, in Mount Vernon, Washington. Bill spent his late childhood on North Lake in Federal Way, where he attended Federal Way schools and was lovingly raised by his grandparents—an experience that shaped his steady, grounded nature throughout his life.
Bill graduated from the University of Puget Sound with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era and was fortunate to be stationed in Germany. Following his service, he built a distinguished 35‑year career with Puget Sound Bank, retiring as an Assistant Vice President.
A lifelong boating enthusiast, Bill found joy on the water aboard his beloved boat, Fiddlesticks. He was a life member of both the Day Island Yacht Club and the Tacoma Yacht Club. His commitment to community and fellowship extended further as a life member of Trivium Masonic Lodge #22 and the Tacoma Elks Lodge #174.
Bill shared 67 devoted years of marriage with his beloved wife, Gloria, who preceded him in death in 2024. Their partnership was the heart of his life.
He is survived by his cousins Barbara Parker, Robin Forgey, Ann Terrell, and Jeff Spelman, who will remember him for his warmth, loyalty, and gentle humor.
A Graveside Service will be held at Mount Vernon Cemetery on January 3, 2026, at noon. Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel & Onsite Crematory of Anacortes, Washington.
