"Bill" William Henry Giesy, 73 died at his home surrounded by loving family and friends on June 29, 2021.  He fought a good fight.

Bill was born in Ellensburg, WA on November 1, 1947 to Loa Mae and Orlin Giesy.  He told many stories of his shenanigans growing up in the Kittitas Valley.  He graduated from Central Washington University in 1968 and commenced his career as a real estate broker. He never looked back.  Bill married his high school sweetheart Susan after college. They never had children and divorced a decade later.

After traveling the country searching for the perfect place to call his forever home, Bill moved to San Juan Island in 1979.  That same year many others who would go on to become prominent members of the Friday Harbor community also moved to the island. Many of this "class of '79" became good friends and business associates.

Much of his life Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman.  A private pilot, he loved flying, boating and motorcycle trips.  He was also a voracious reader who loved history and world travel.  Bill was one of a kind. His wit and keen sense of humor were unmatched and all those who had the privilege of knowing him can tell a good Mr. Bill story.

Bill met Diane, the love of his life in 1992, when she came to work in his real estate office.  Not long after, he proclaimed he was in love and wanted to spend the rest of his life together with Diane and her two children.  They married in 1997 and worked in the real estate business together for many years and had many great adventures.

He is survived by his wife Diane and their adult children Rashaan and Alana, two adorable granddaughters Opal and Hailey, his little dog Mabel, and many friends, family and colleagues.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 3 – 7 pm
on Thursday July 29, 2021
at the Giesy Residence.
