Joan "Joni " Louise Wentworth of Anacortes, Washington and former resident of Bishop, California, went to The Lord on Saturday, August 24, 2013, with her family by her side. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on March 19, 1936.

At a young age she moved to New York City with her parents, Clem and Alice Rande, where she graduated from high school and went to work as a teletype operator for Transworld Airlines in the Manhattan headquarters. Joni met her future husband Bob while ice skating with friends in Central Park, while Bob was in the Navy. It was love at first sight. Bob and Joni married on June 25, 1955.

They shared 58 wonderful years of marriage where you would rarely see one without the other. Joni was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to her family that loved her so much. She enjoyed skiing and playing golf. She also loved traveling to see her children and grandchildren in Maryland and Alaska.

Joni was a devout Roman Catholic and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Anacortes Washington. Joni leaves behind her husband and best friend, Bob; children, Russ and Sook Wentworth and Robin and Geoffrey Hershberger; and grandsons, Daniel, Geoffrey and Henry. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Sarah.

Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church followed by a reception at the Fr. Auer Center. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Grand View Cemetery in Anacortes.
