Bushey
Jun 22, 1924 — Oct 15, 2017
Anacortes
Loren Claude Bushey, long-time resident of Anacortes and WWII veteran, passed away on October 15, 2017 surrounded by his family.
Loren was born in Anacortes on June 22, 1924 to Gerald and Marguerite Bushey. While attending Anacortes High School, Loren met the love of his life, Mildred Carol Anderson. Both of them graduated with the Anacortes Class of 1943 and were married shortly thereafter. He joined the Navy after graduation and was sent to Memphis, Tennessee for training. While in Memphis, his first child, Gerald was born. He was later assigned to the Atlantic sub patrol aboard the Douglas SBD Dauntless dive bomber. After discharge, he returned to Anacortes and was reunited with his wife and son. There were two new additions to the family with the birth of their son Timothy in 1948 and their daughter Wendy in 1959. Loren was employed at the Shell oil refinery and he retired in 1986. During retirement, Loren and Mildred traveled throughout the United States and Canada. Loren had a particular love for Disneyland, where many times they would end up after one of their trips.
Loren's parents, Gerald and Marguerite Bushey, were both long-time residents of Anacortes. His mother was of the Deutsch family who were some of the very first settlers in Anacortes during the early 1860's. His brother, the late Willis (Red) lived in Nevada until his passing. Mildred's parents, Christen and Mabel Anderson were also long-time residents of Anacortes having arrived around 1900. He is survived by his loving wife Mildred, his children Gerald, Timothy and Wendy along with three grandchildren Timothy, Shawn and Michael and two great grandchildren Alex and Wyatt.
Loren's wife wishes to extend her sincere appreciation for the kind and loving support given her by her niece Christine O'Leary and her husband Tim. No memorial services are planned and the family requests in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to Hospice of the Northwest. Loren was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and he will be missed greatly. Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel of Anacortes, WA.
