Curley Engen, 96, went to meet his Lord, wife and son on Saturday, August 13, 2022, in Anacortes, Washington. Curley was born on November 24,1925 in Vining, Minnesota, the son of Alfred and Olive (Wilson) Engen.

He married the love of his life on August 14, 1949, Frances Almeda Estvold. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage until her passing in early 2011. They lived many places during those years, but Anacortes was truly their home.

Curley served in WWII as a navigator on a B-24 Liberator aircraft. His love for his country was evident as you would see him sitting in Starbucks with his leather bomber jacket, B-24 hat and American flag on his lapel. A true patriot.

He was a kind and generous man with a robust soul. His motto was "Never Give Up" and he remained that way until his final days. His utmost joy was his family and specifically his grandson, Tristan, in whom he instilled many of his greatest qualities and values – "Set Goals, Follow-Through, and Do What You Say You Are Going to Do." His other passion was working on his property and enjoying his family and neighbors, and of course a good cup of coffee. He had a way of making people feel special and loved with those smiling blue eyes, it was a true gift.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Frances; son, Matthew; parents, Alfred and Olive (Wilson) Engen; and brother, Wilton Wayne "Bud" Engen.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Jess Talosi and grandson, Tristan Talosi, all of Prescott, Arizona; brother and sister-in-law: Dean "Toby" and Barb Engen; sister, Mandy Halvorson; nieces and nephews: Jim and Terie Kenote, Marc and Pam Estvold, Barry and Susan Sehlin, Gary and Carol Baker, Jim and Kim Kline, Christa Miller, Vicki Cheney, Neil and Cathy Crawford, Delrae Estvold, Blaine Halvorson and Carol Barlau, Brenda Knight, Barry and Ann Halvorson, Gary and Bonnie Hebert, Charles and Penny Krause, John and Peggy Pepsin; and his many great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to The Anacortes Schools Foundation , 2200 M Avenue, Anacortes, WA 98221 – The Nathan Estvold Scholarship Fund in honor of Alfred "Curley" Engen. Per Curley's request there will be no memorial services. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Grand View Cemetery in Anacortes, Washington.
