On August 19, 2022, Marilyn McGuire died peacefully in Marysville, WA with her eldest sons by her side while in hospice care for conditions incident to age. She was 91 years old.

Marilyn is survived by her blended family – sons: Donald Russell (Renée) Hobbs, John (Beverly) Hobbs, and Andrew Patterson, stepdaughters: Katie (Joe) Berman and Marguerite (Glenn) Grossenbacher, and stepsons: John (Sharon) McGuire and Kevin McGuire. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, JB McGuire ;  parents: Russell Henry Biegel, Sr., and Ruth Carroll Webb; brothers: Russell (Anne) Biegel and Don (Juanita) Biegel; son Brian Patterson, and ex-husbands: Bill Hobbs and Robert Patterson.

Marilyn was born on August 4, 1931, in San Pedro, CA. She graduated from Narbonne High School in Lomita, CA in 1949 where she met her first husband Bill Hobbs. She continued her education as a working mother, and was later employed by Space Technology Laboratories or STL (later TRW), as a systems analyst, where she met her second husband, Robert Patterson, and later applied these skills for AAA or the Automobile Club of Southern California, (ACSC) in the IT Department.

While seeking a patent for a sewing accessory she had designed, she met a patent attorney, JB McGuire , who became her soul mate and the love of her life. They married on August 4, 1978 and from that day on; they celebrated their shared anniversary and birthdate or "Anniverthday" as the "World Holiday". Later, as President and Vice-President of Altamira Corporation, they owned and operated a chain of Arby's restaurants in northern California before retiring to Orcas Island. They made frequent cruises, including two Alaska cruises with their children and grandchildren, and were avid members of the U.S. Power Squadron.

Marilyn loved playing bridge. And as she told it, she and her bridge partner at Brookdale Arbor Place in Everett, WA were undefeated. The last two jobs she had, as she liked to tell her family and visitors to her residences at Brookdale Arbor Place in Everett, WA from 2015-2020, and Grandview Village in Marysville WA from 2020-2022, were reading and watching TV.
