Patty Schultz, 59, of Oak Harbor, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 26, 2023 at the UW Medical Center in Seattle. She was born on January 18, 1964, in Spokane, the daughter of Martin and Imelda (Gregoire) Petersen.

Her early years were spent in Spokane where she graduated from high school. Patty, being of compassionate and nurturing disposition, took up a career in independent caregiving.  She first ran a daycare center for children for years before going into elder care.

Patty met the love of her life, Dan Tackels in Anacortes, in 2004. At the time, Dan was visiting his mother.  Mutual friends of theirs introduced Dan to Patty. It was love at first sight as Dan reminisces for both of them. She was the most beautiful, outgoing, caring person he had ever met.  Dan immediately asked her out on a date and from the second date on they were inseparable. They moved to Friday Harbor where Dan worked in the telecommunications industry and decided to make their home in Oak Harbor, when Dan retired.

Patty was passionate about living and never met a stranger.  She loved cooking, entertaining and travelling with Dan. A decade after their union, Patty fell ill and Dan became her loving caregiver.  Though their activities were limited due to her illness, they were able to take a memorable trip to Alaska on a cruise ship and spend the days in her zeal for gardening, a pastime that Dan found he could easily share with her.  Together they enjoyed maintaining the grounds of their lovely home.  Her deep-seated faith and family brought her much joy and were multiplied with the advent of grandchildren.

Patty was predeceased by her parents and her son Michael Dodson.  She is survived by Dan, her life partner of 22 years; her son Brandon Dodson and stepdaughter, Sarrah (Schultz) Hamilton; her four grandchildren: Emily, Triston Dodson, Olivia and Emma Hamilton; and her sisters: Mary, Lynn and Chrissie.
