Christopher Mark Rudzis, age 70, passed away at his residence in Carmel, California, where he had lived since 2021. Born in Newport, Rhode Island, Christopher was the son of Col. Edwin Rudzis, USMC (Ret.), and Grace "Babs" Rudzis Glasgow (née Frier).

As the child of a military family, Christopher experienced a dynamic upbringing, attending four high schools and three colleges across the country. However, he considered Carmel his hometown. He graduated from Junipero Serra School, attended Carmel High School in 1973 and Monterey Peninsula College. He ultimately graduated from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo and completed his graduate studies at Cornell University in 1980.

Christopher dedicated 45 years to the field of architecture, working with various firms in Palo Alto before joining Justin Pauly in Monterey, California. His thoughtful designs and professional integrity left a lasting mark on the communities he served. He transitioned to semi-retirement in 2025.

A lifelong bachelor, Christopher found joy in the simple pleasures of tennis and cycling. He was a devoted grandson to his maternal grandmother, Grace Frier. He cared for her until Grace moved to Anacortes when the rest of the family relocated to Washington State.

Christopher is survived by his mother, Babs; his siblings LT. COL. John D. Rudzis, USMC (Ret.), Susan Cradduck, and Therese (Steve McDermott); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin, and his brother Michael.

Christopher will be remembered for his quiet strength, dedication to family, his quick dry wit and the enduring beauty of the spaces he helped create.

A Funeral Mass with Rosary preceding at 10:30 am will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Anacortes, Washington with a Reception following after. Christopher will be laid to rest at the Grand View Cemetery in Anacortes.

Memorial donations in his name may be made to The Carmelite Monastery , 27601 Highway 1, Carmel, CA 93923.
