Claire Loretta Zimmermann passed away on February 2, 2025, at home at the age of 91. Born on April 29, 1933 in Haiku, Maui to Antone and Clara Almeida, she was in Honolulu during the Japanese bombing on December 7th, 1941.  Claire left Hawaii for California in 1959 after receiving her Bachelor in Nursing, despite her father's disapproval of her education and independence. She met Herbert Zimmermann while working at Highland Hospital in Oakland and they were married in August of 1961. The family moved from California to Tacoma in 1975. Once their children had graduated from high school, Claire and Herb moved to Utah but returned to the Northwest when they moved to Anacortes for retirement.

Claire was a faithful member of St Mary church, a devout Catholic for her entire life and was a professed Secular Franciscan. She enjoyed reading and listening to music. When she was younger, she sang soprano in many church choirs.

Herbert passed away in 2002. Claire is survived by her sister, Marie Marks; her children, Mark  Zimmermann (and Beth Hacker), and AnnMarie Zimmermann; her grandchildren, Adrian Ziaggi (and Max Drickey), Julian Ziaggi, and Galen Ziaggi; and her great-granddaughter, Tamsen Ziaggi.
