Dale Ashley
Young
Jul 25, 1941 — Feb 28, 2026
Anacortes
Dale Ashley Young, 84, of Anacortes, Washington, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, at Island Hospital. Born on July 25, 1941, in Lima, Ohio, Dale was the son of Glenn and Hazel (Daniels) Young. Dale lived a long and full life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a deep love for the outdoors.
The Young family moved to Massachusetts where he grew up in his early years. Dale loved sports and played Basketball and Baseball in Massachusetts High School. He entered a trade school upon graduation before embarking on a remarkable 51‑year career as a union electrician. His work took him to job sites across the country, where he was known for his skill, reliability, and strong work ethic. Dale retired in 2021, closing a chapter defined by dedication and craftsmanship.
In 1979, Dale moved to Anacortes, the community he would call home for the next 47 years. That same year, he met the love of his life, Colleen Shirley Brown. The two married in 1984 and shared 36 years of marriage until her passing in 2020. Together, they built a life filled with adventure, sunshine, and family—especially during their cherished winters spent in Lighthouse Pointe, Florida.
Dale's happiest moments were those spent outdoors. He loved fishing, crabbing, and golfing with his sons, and he was always ready for a day in the sun. He enjoyed traveling with Colleen, staying active through basketball and running, and settling in to watch his favorite sports. His easygoing nature, humor, and warmth made him a joy to be around.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his step‑sons: Monty (Katie), Larry (Christine), and Gary Osborne; grandchildren Kyler, Megan (Jeremy); great grandchildren Owen, Kaycen; and his sisters Pat Bellows and Judy Joseph. Dale will be remembered with love by all who knew him, including extended family and friends who shared in his stories, laughter, and generous spirit.
Dale's Graveside Service will be held 1 pm, Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Fernhill Cemetery in Anacortes.
