David Alan Conley passed away suddenly at his home on Guemes Island, Washington on March 28th, 2013 at the age of 83. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many.

Dave was born June 29, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio. The family soon moved to Seattle where Dave and his brother, Philip, grew up. After graduating from Roosevelt High School, Dave joined the Marine Reserves and during that time, he met and married the love of his life, Dorothy .

In 1948, at the age of 19, he joined Boeing as an airplane mechanic. He joined the Boeing Minute Man Missile Program in 1959 and moved his family to Lancaster, California. For the next 10 years, he transferred several times, residing in Seattle, Santa Maria, CA, Rapid City, SD, Butler, MO, Sedalia, MO, Great Falls, MT and back to Seattle. Dave worked in Flight Test in Seattle, moving to the Everett flight line as an engine mechanic. He retired in 1990 as Senior Flight Line Manager with 42 years with the company. Dave remained in touch with many of the friends he made during those 42 years through monthly lunch meetings in Everett and Renton. He maintained a roster of all the Boeing retirees in the area.

Dave and Dorothy lived in their Lynnwood home for 30 years and built their summer home on Guemes Island where they moved permanently in 2005.

Dave enjoyed his family, hiking, fishing, gardening, building and fixing things, raising honey bees, Mason bees, chickens, and geese. He was an avid bird watcher, wood carver and furniture maker. He was particularly fond of grafting trees and propagating plants, as well as collecting seeds of every variety.

Dave was preceded in death by his grandson, Adam Eric Conley. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; son, David Jr. (LaVonne); twin daughters, Christie and Cathie Conley; nine grandchildren: Blu, Jesse, Travis, Tanya, Amy, Derek, Clinton, Krystal and Cari; 12 great-grandchildren: Jared, Dream, Julia, Maya, Kaitlyn, Alix, Briana, Madison, Trent, Taylor, Mikayla and Mer.
