Harold (Hal) Tegthof, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on October 30, 2023, at the age of 88. He was born on January 4, 1935, in Memphis, Tennessee, to August and Dorothy Tegthof.

Hal attended Washington University, where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering and spent his summers working on the railroads, which led to his lifelong love of trains.

In 1958, while serving in the Air Force, Hal met Sue on a California beach, and they were married a year later. Together, they raised three daughters: Jeri (Doug Brown), Deb Tegthof, and Julie Castle in Battle Ground, Washington. They were actively involved in the community neighborhood gatherings and enjoyed the adventures of living in rural Clark County.

Hal was employed at the Crown Zellerbach mill in Camas, Washington, for most of his career. He also enjoyed teaching Electricity part-time at Clark College.

Hal enjoyed multiple hobbies, including photography, coin and stamp collecting, traveling, and stained glass. He shared his hobbies with his daughters, including a variety of 'handyman' skills.

After retirement, Hal & Sue spent time exploring the US with several RV clubs and exploring the Caribbean on the Windjammer Barefoot cruises.

Hal and Sue were married for 64 years and moved to Mount Vernon, Washington, in 2011 to be closer to family. They enjoyed being snowbirds, spending the winter months in Casa Grande, Arizona.

Hal is survived by his wife, Sue, his three daughters, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and his sister Joan. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 11th, at Fernhill Cemetery, 7407 Fern Hill Cemetery Road, Anacortes, Washington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Hospice of the Northwest .
