Herbert "Herb" Marcus Peck, 87, of Anacortes, WA, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024.  He was born in Sweet Grass, MT, on July 24, 1936, the son of Herbert and Jessie (Robinson) Peck.

Herbert was married to the love of his life, Shirley Mae Kugelard , for 50 years, having three children: a daughter and two sons.  His occupation as an Inspector in the oil sector spanned his entire career, with a notable five-year assignment in Saudi Arabia.

Herbert loved to photograph nature and the family is lucky to have many cherished memories because Herb always had a camera ready. He enjoyed electronics and was always interested in the latest gadgets.  Before the passing of his beloved wife, the two of them traveled the world and made many trips to the ocean, as that was Shirley's favorite destination. The beautiful garden, created at his home with Shirley, was the envy of the neighborhood. He was happiest being with his family and listening to their conversations.

For Herbert Peck, nothing brought greater joy than sharing outdoor adventures with his family. Summer camping trips, hiking, fishing, and huckleberry-picking trips at Mt. Baker/Baker Lake were cherished traditions. He enjoyed rowing his children around Pass Lake for hours while they fished. His children have fond memories of Sunday drives to Mt. Baker, having picnics of bologna sandwiches and Kool-Aid, while sitting on the tailgate of the "International Travelall", enjoying the scenery on the side of a forestry road. Friends and extended family gatherings at Surfside, on the Long Beach Peninsula, were cherished occasions of joy and connection.

Herbert is survived by his children: Karla (Don Van Pay) and Steve (Marina); daughter-in-law: Rebecca "Becky" Peck; grandchildren: DJ (Courtney), Sean; great-granddaughter: Rachel; Sister: Vera (Gil) Harvey; sister-in-law: Marcia Burnham; niece & nephews: Terri, Mark, Julie, Jim, Keith, and Kirk.

Herbert was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Peck, and son, Daniel Peck, who passed away just days ago, on 3/5/2024.

A Graveside Service will be held at Grand View Cemetery for Herb on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Noon.
