Joyce Rosaia Wilson was born to Don and Rosaia Wilson on her mother's birthday, October 14, 1944. She was a 6th generation Island gem with an amazing generous soul whose positive, bright, shining spirit embraced everyone she met. Her cherished childhood was spent with her loving parents and siblings Donna, Frank, and John, extended family and many lifelong friends. Her positive outlook was a gift and brought hope to us all.

Joyce married Jim Johnson in 1960 and together they welcomed 4 children, Mark, Christina, Roland and Melissa. 2 more siblings, Gene and Kathleen, were added to her family during this time and she had the added bonus of raising her children alongside her parents who lived just up the road.

In 1971 she married the love of her life Warren Jones, and they were inseparable, sharing a life full of adventures, wonderful friends, and commitment to their community. Among the joys of their life together were time spent with her sister Donna and husband John, traveling to Goldstream, vacations with close friends and the many romantic trips to Cannon Beach. In 2017 Warren took her on a river boat cruise, calling it the trip of a lifetime.

Joyce had many jobs over the years including Pier 1, The Rip Tide Cafe, Big Daddy's and was the co-owner of Sunland Realty with her husband Warren. In 1977 she became the Islands' well known and well-loved Meter Reader. Working for Orcas Power and Light took her to every home and business for 34 years, where she connected and touched so many people's lives offering love, support, encouragement, along with a good laugh. She enjoyed taking family and friends along with her on her routes, sharing the history and stories of San Juan Island.

Life outside of her job was filled with family, caregiving, gardening, the gathering and collecting of many things including rocks, antlers and Kewpies. Joyce's Catholic faith and community were very important in her life, along with her volunteer work including the March of Dimes in honor of her son Mark. Retirement was spent with her many girlfriends and coffee time with Warren and Jim.

Joyce's memory will be cherished and honored by her 3 surviving children Christina, Roland (Joan), and Melissa (Rick), grandchildren Dylan, Clayton, Amanda, Christopher and Kathryn, great grandchildren Gideon, Aaron James, Maverick, Beni Kai, and Lilia and foster daughter Jacqueline Fowlie, her son Aaron (Kirin) and granddaughter Marceline Perine. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Frank and sister Kathleen, beloved husband Warren, son Mark and granddaughter Trinidy.
