Kathryn Lynn Jones (formerly Schaefer and Saulsbury) passed away in her home in Anacortes while on Hospice care after a short illness on July 23, 2025. Kathryn was born to Donald and Janette Jones on April 30, 1948 in Colorado Springs, CO. She enjoyed a happy childhood in Southern California (Whittier, Brea).  Kathryn received her RN degree at Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, California in 1972. She later went on to receive a double Masters degree in Nursing and Business Administration.

In Southern California she worked in public health, hospice and labor and delivery. In Anacortes she worked at Island Hospital in the operating room and L&D. Her last nursing years were spent teaching at Skagit and Whatcom Colleges where she was much loved by her students.

Kathryn will be remembered by her love of family, her straightforwardness, and her wry sense of humour. She was a woman of many talents – a gifted quilter, weaver and knitter and always taking on an assortment of whimsical new craft projects. She had a beautiful soprano voice and was a former member of the Shelter Bay Chorus. She was passionate about geneology and discovering her Welsh, Scottish and English roots. She adored and doted on her dog Fritzi and cat Slugo.

Kathryn is survived by her two sons, Bill Schaefer (Kathy) of Yorba Linda and David Schaefer (Katie) of Hermosa Beach, her three grandchildren -- Dalton, Lauren and Kai; her brothers Ken, Doug (Sue), Craig (Donna) and Rick (Ginger Sherbourne) Jones.
