Lorraine
Love
Sep 20, 1945 — Feb 16, 2024
It is with a heavy heart that we must share with the community the loss of our beloved mother and our father's lifelong sweetheart, Lorraine Love. She passed away peacefully and full of grace surrounded by her family on February 16th.
Lorraine was born in Seattle and moved to Ellensburg as a young child with her parents, Harold and Mildred Brooks. She attended Central Washington University as a music major, where she met the love of her life, Bill Love. As a young couple, they moved to Colville, where Bill got his first band directing job and Lorraine worked in the Education Department. They spent a few years in Colville until Bill got the band directing job in Anacortes, where they spent their life together. They were married for 58 years in a life full of joy and music.
In Anacortes, they started their young family, having three children. Lorraine was a devoted mother, kind, and supportive her entire life. She never missed a school function, whether it be sports, music, or plays. She was always there for her children. Bill's job as a band director required hours upon hours of extra work outside the normal school day. Band trips for competitions, parades, and concerts all over the state, and even Victoria, BC. Lorraine never missed a band trip as Bill's bands traveled. She was always there to support Bill and was the quiet force behind the band's successes.
Lorraine had a beautiful soprano singing voice. She directed the choir at the First Baptist Church for 20 years and was asked to sing for weddings, funerals, and numerous community events. She was the church secretary for years and then worked at the City of Anacortes as a legal assistant where she would retire from 15 years later.
Lorraine always had the most beautiful smile and was welcoming to everyone around her. She was kind, loving, spunky, and was supportive and protective of the people she loved. She lived her life for music, family, the Lord and lived her life according to His word. She was 78 years and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Mildred Brooks, her brother Don Brooks, and sister-in-law Nancy Brooks. Lorraine is survived by her husband Bill Love, sister Marge (Fred Koziol), children Debbie (Vince Domenzain), Craig Love, and Sherry Love-Wenger (Mike Wenger). She leaves behind grandchildren, Travis (Averee) Hawthorne, Kylee and Megan Berlin, and great grandchild Alice Kirkland.
Evans Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. The Memorial and Celebration of Life will be held at the Anacortes First Baptist Church, Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to The Clothes Closet, and The Kitchen at the First Baptist Church.
