Lyle Gilbert Kendall was born in Mitchell, South Dakota to Harold and Mae Kendall. He died at the age of 92 years in Burlington, Washington and entered his heavenly home, the last of his siblings who have served the Lord.

The family moved to Richland, Washington in 1942 and Lyle graduated from Columbia High School in Richland in 1952. Between 1952 and 1956 he served in the United States Navy, based out of San Diego, California. In 1956 he attended Whitworth College (University) in Spokane, Washington where he met and married the love of his life, Anna Dorothea Jensen on November 30, 1957, in Federal Way, Washington. They were married 53 years.

Lyle worked as a manager in grocery stores in Walla Walla, Washington (Safeway) and Fairbanks, Alaska (Ray's and Piggly Wiggly) and in lumber yards in Lebanon, Oregon. He then worked as a cost accountant in the manufactured housing industries in Lebanon, Oregon, Olympia, Washington, and Albany, Oregon. He and Anna retired to Beaverton, Oregon in 2000 and, after Anna's death in 2010, he moved, in 2016, to Creekside Continuing Care Community in Burlington, Washington.

A long-time member of the Presbyterian Church, Lyle was ordained a Deacon in January 1966 in Salem, Oregon, and then a Ruling Elder in the late 1960's in Lebanon, Oregon. He especially enjoyed building and carving with wood, camping, bowling, horseshoes, and watching sports on television. He did much to improve the family beach property, Sorgenfri (Danish for "Place of Peace") at Waldport, Oregon. He and Anna enjoyed a memorable cruise through the Panama Canal and a train trip across Canada, along with trips to Hawaii, Mexico, Caribbean, and Northern Europe.

Lyle was predeceased by his wife Anna Dorothea Kendall, parents Harold & Mae Kendall, sister Rose Kendall, brother and sister-in-law Harold & Joanne Kendall, and sister and brother-in-law Cathy & Richard Durham.

Lyle is survived by his son Lyle H. Kendall (Fran); daughters Teresa Kendall (Tom Gomola) and Joy Olson (Glenn); and grandsons Matthew Kendall (Yvonna), Erik Olson (Amanda), and Ryan Olson (Rose Zangana).

The family is thankful for the ministry of Creekside Continuing Care Community, Hospice of the Northwest, and Home Instead for their care for Lyle in his last weeks.  He will be laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery with Military Honors.
