Marjorie was born on September 10, 1936, in Park Rapids, Minnesota, to Richard and Edith James. She was the oldest of four daughters, with sisters Helen, Cathryn, and Dorothy. Marjorie was an excellent student and was on the drill team at Anacortes High School and graduated in 1954. Margie grew up in the First Baptist Church in Anacortes. In Marjorie's sophomore year of high school, she met the love of her life,  Robert (Bob) Peterson  , and they married on May 3, 1955. In their senior year of High School, Margie and Bob were on a double date with their best, lifelong friends, Wayne and Marrivone (Merrel) Melvin, when a drunk truck driver crossed into their lane and hit them head-on. Margie lost her two front teeth, and all of the kids went to the hospital.   

   Bob came home on leave from the Air Force, married Margie, and took her back to Cheyenne, Wyoming, where she worked in a department store. Margie and Bob had their first child in 1956- Cindy Lou Peterson, who died as a result of a difficult childbirth. Kathy Ann came along in 1958 in Cheyenne. In 1959, Bob and Margie moved back to Anacortes, and Bob became a firefighter, commercial fisherman, and then a general contractor. In Anacortes, Robert Bruce (Rob) came along in 1959, followed by Kristy Marie in 1962. In 1967, Margie and Bob moved with their family to Mt. Vernon. When the kids were all in school, Margie went back to school at night and became an LPN nurse at Skagit Valley Hospital. After leaving Skagit Valley Hospital, Margie became a bus aide to developmentally disabled children in the Mt. Vernon School District. In 1971,  Bob was building Margie a beautiful big house in the country in Mt. Vernon. Margie was climbing the ladder to help Bob with the roof, and the ladder collapsed, and she fell. The ladder came down on Margie and she shattered her heal. She suffered with her heal from then on. Bob and Margie moved back to Anacortes in 1981, and Margie never worked again. Soon after, her beautiful grandkids started coming, and her life was complete again.   

   Margie enjoyed and loved all of her dogs throughout the years, Charlie, Teddy, Mini, Sam, Daisy May, Rudy and Toby. Margie enjoyed antiquing and had a large collection of Blue Glass. Margie loved the color blue.   

   Margie and Bob enjoyed big family Christmases at her parents' home with all her sisters and their families. They enjoyed camping and hunting with family and friends, and frequent card games with their many friends and family. Bob and Margie always had boats and enjoyed traveling through the San Juan Islands and exploring the Salish Sea. Margie maintained friendships from high school and frequented monthly lunches with her girlfriends called 'the lunch bunch.'   

   Margie suffered a big loss of empty nest syndrome when her children left her home. Soon after, Bob started developing health problems and retired young. Margie and Bob bought a second home in Lake Tyee where they enjoyed big family events, and a third home in Mesa Arizona. When Bob suffered many health complications and lost his leg, Margie became his caregiver, and they sold Lake Tyee and Mesa Arizona. They lived on Avon Allen Rd. in Mt Vernon for many years, until Margie came down with colon cancer and they moved back to Anacortes into Creekside, which Bob had developed 25 years earlier. Margie loved the deer in Anacortes and loved to go for rides and feed them apples. She was thrilled when a baby deer was born in her yard.   

   Margie and Bob helped raise their youngest grandchild,  Pearle Peterson.   

   Margie's major joy in her life came from her seven grandchildren, Anna, Nora, Lacey, Kristina, Kristofer, Ashley, and Pearle; and her 4 great-grandchildren Augie, Bo, Elsie and Natalie.   She talked to her children every day or so, and her first question Always was "so, what are all the kids up to?"  Margie was a loving and kind wife, mother, and grandmother.   

   In July 2019, Margie lost her soulmate and beloved Bob to Vascular dementia after 64 years of marriage. Margie's life was forever changed, and she looked forward to the day that she could sit by Jesus's side and be reunited with her beloved Bob.   

   Margie lived a full and loving life.       Mom, Grandma Margie, you will be forever missed.   

   Margie passed peacefully at her home in  Mt Vernon of 4.5 years at Mountain Glen Assisted Living on the evening of January 22, 2024.  She has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the  Humane Society of Skagit County  .
