Marie Frances
Snyder
Jun 29, 1929 — Nov 28, 2025
Bow
Because she lived so fully, we thought she would live forever. Marie Frances Snyder of Bow, Washington, age 96, passed away peacefully from natural causes November 28, 2025. She was born June 29, 1929, in Seattle, Washington, to Charles and Marie Domet. She married the love of her life, Ed Snyder, in 1947, welcomed children Ed Jr. and Cathie into their family and created a life of curiosity and adventure. Ed pre-deceased Marie in 2007. And despite her sense that she wouldn't live a week without him, Marie continued to be fully engaged in her life for another 18 years.
Marie is survived by her son, Edward Snyder Jr of Shepherdstown, WV and his wife, Nan; daughter, Cathie Dayton and her husband Craig Dayton of Bow, WA; grandson, Edward Andrew Boyd (Megan) and his sons, Lachlan (Taliah), Cohen and Mack; step-grandchildren Traci Rhoads (Peter) and her family, and Sean Dayton and his family; brother-in-law Jim Snyder of Deer Park, WA; many nieces and nephews, including her beloved nieces Christine Hansen and Lori Stokes and their families; and her treasured kitty Sox; as well as so many cherished friends and extended family members. She was a great-great-grandma for a day, with the arrival of baby Maverick. For such a tiny person, she made a huge impact in the lives of all who knew and loved her, and she will be deeply missed.
Marie was always young at heart and witty, loved gathering with family and friends, shared her love as a "mom" to many, was an exceptional artist, Illustrator for Western Horseman, a member of local art groups, a student of art her entire life, and a teacher to many. She lived a rich and adventurous life with her husband Ed, including being a cowgirl and ranch hand into her 80s.
A Celebration of Life service and reception for Marie will be held at 11 am on January 17, 2026, at Evans Funeral Chapel in Anacortes, Washington. The service will be livestreamed (info at evanschapel.com) In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of her favorite charities, Old Dog Haven, a shelter and rehoming sanctuary for abandoned, elder dogs, olddoghaven.org .
