Michael Cameron Muntean, 66, of Anacortes, WA, formerly of Southern California, had just returned from a 2500 nautical mile trip through the South Pacific with his wife, Sheri, when he passed unexpectedly on May 5, 2024, at Providence Everett Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

Michael was born on June 7, 1957, in Newport, California, the beloved son of Thomas and Shirley (Weaver) Muntean.  Michael  started racing motorcycles at age 7, racing professionally from 1971-1981. Known as Mike "Madman" Muntean, he was a fan favorite and crowd pleaser, becoming a prominent figure in the racing world. His on-the-edge riding style, on and off the track, rocketed him to 40-yard-line rider circle and led to numerous exhibition races across the country.  Mike was also picked by US Champion, Rick Woods, to be his team partner for the Orange County Eagles.

In September 22, 2022, Michael was inducted into the Hot Shoe Hall of Fame, a testament to his skill and dedication to the sport. Despite his success, Michael remained humble and dedicated to his family. He retired from racing to care for his ailing mother and later pursued a career as a master captain, running boats along the Central American coast and through the Panama Canal for many years.  Mike was a decorated professional sports fisherman, running the Budweiser Boat and moved on to commercial fishing on some of the best-known boats in the Alaskan waters.

Michael met the love of his life, Sheri, in 2006, and together they shared a different passion, their eight children and grandchildren. He was a father figure and mentor to many, always putting his family first.

Michael is survived by his wife, Sheri, and the children in their life: Hayley, Rachel, and Cameron Muntean; Kelsie Ferry; Ariel McCould; Sarah Fernandez; and Stephanie and Sean Griffin.

Michael Cameron Muntean will be remembered for his selfless nature, his love for his family, and his passion for racing and adventure. He will be deeply missed by all who know him. May he rest in peace.
