Nathaniel M. Nord died on March 4, 2024, of causes incident to age. He was born May I,

1934, in New York City, to parents Samuel and Esther Nord, attended grade and high schools in Flushing, and to the surprise and consternation of many, chose to attend the

University of Utah in Salt Lake City. He graduated in 1952, but not before meeting and marrying Ann Williams, his incredible, loving partner for the next 58 years. Of him, she

would quip, "I've been very happily married to the wrong man for all of these years", and indeed she was. Following 2 years of military service he returned to Salt Lake City and enrolled in the University of Utah School of Medicine, from which he earned his M.D. Degree. Upon completion of 5 years of post-doctoral training he briefly joined the full-time faculty of the School of Medicine, but ultimately entered private practice in Salt Lake City, specializing in neurological disorders.

In 1997 career retirement beckoned, he from Medicine, and Ann from Nursing. A move to Anacortes, WA. was orchestrated, and a most desirable sailing yacht purchased. With old and new friends, children, grandchildren, and other family members, there were countless shared pleasures and experiences boating between Anacortes and Alaska. Travel to Europe, Africa, and Antarctica ensured that their lives remained full of wonders.

Retirement was an extended period of adventure and gifted to both of them an accumulation of indelible memories that spanned those nearly 20 years. Sadly, what had been a magical time was abruptly muted by Ann's passing in 2013. It remained so until the establishment and first awarding of the Ann W. Nord Memorial Nursing Scholarship in June 2015. That event proved trans-formative, creating in him a sense of the return of former magical moments, for once he became aware of the importance of sharing Ann's magnificence with others. With the scholarship in place, life for him was good again.

Life took an even better turn when he began a committed relationship with Anita Reetz in 2020. She remained his loving companion in Anacortes until his death.

Family survivors include daughter Rebecca, son Stuart (spouse Pamela), grandchildren Adrienne (spouse Harley), Alexandra (spouse Adam), Jacob, Lucy, Elliott and great grandsons Axel, Cooper and Asher.
