Patty was born in Inglewood, California, on June 9, 1947. With her parents John and Esther Pedersen and her older sister Diana, Patty grew up in Culver City, California. John was a tool and die maker and was partners with two family members in a rolled aluminum manufacturing business in Marina del Rey. Esther was a housewife.

Patty’s father John emigrated from Norway in 1927 at the age of 19. It was supposed to be a 2-year adventure that turned into a lifetime. Patty always embraced and loved her Norwegian heritage and visited Norway on at least one occasion.

Patty graduated from Hamilton High School in Beverly Hills in 1965. She has many very dear, long-time friends from that time with whom she stayed in touch. She began working as a medical assistant and worked in the health care industry for her entire career. She worked, traveled and remained in the southern California area until 2001, when she moved to Anacortes.

Patty joined the Anacortes Soroptimist Club in 2004. She was very active in the club’s activities taking special joy in working at the club’s thrift store – or “the shop”. Soroptimist was a cornerstone in her life. In 2005 Patty overcame cancer and became a regular part of the annual Relay for Life event for many years. In 2008 Patty returned to work in the Oncology Department at Island Hospital until her retirement in 2017. She was a member of the Soroptimist club until 2024. As a life-long Lutheran, Patty was an active member of the Anacortes Lutheran Church.

Patty loved and was an integral part of her community and especially her neighborhood where she knew everyone. While working in her beautiful yard at her home on the corner of Bryce and Queen Ann, she would talk to all who came by, especially those walking their dogs. Her faithful companion Arwyn, a Cardigan Welsh Corgi, would be by her side. Patty loved music and knew the lyrics to almost every song. She adored kids and took special delight in watching them gather at the bus stop on the corner every day. Patty was a vibrant, funny, gracious, generous lady who touched many hearts and we will miss her very much.

Patty lost her mother in 1975, her father in 1988, and her sister in 2022. Her remaining close family, brother-in-law Bob, passed away in January of this year. The last chapter of her life was very much a challenge. The community and friends she so loved came together to support her through this challenge. For that we are so very grateful. We are also very grateful for the wonderful staff and community at Lighthouse Memory Care. They provided Patty with a beautiful, loving, and safe place for her last chapter. We are also very grateful for the amazing staff at Hospice of the Northwest. Patty is now at peace, in God’s arms and in our hearts forever.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Anacortes Lutheran Church. A reception will follow at Skyline Beach Club, where family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor Patty's life.
