Anacortes
Sterling Hart Gibson, 82, of Anacortes, passed away peacefully at home on September 9, 2025, with his loving wife by his side. Born on May 3, 1943, in Hartford, Connecticut, to Meredith and Dorothy (Sterling) Gibson.
Sterling lived a life full of service, dedication, and love. After graduating high school, Sterling enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served honorably during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation for his service. Sterling applied the skills he gained in the Navy to build a successful career. He worked as a helicopter pilot for Seattle Traffic and as a lineman with US West while pursuing his college education. His expertise in electrical systems, blueprint reading, and plant operations led to a 33-year career as an Engineer and Security Manager with GTE/Verizon, where he retired in 2004.
In Everett, Washington, Sterling met the love of his life, Teri L. Dickinson, while working at GTE. Together, they shared 37 wonderful years, including 27 years of marriage. Their life was filled with love, cherished memories, and the joy of raising their children.
During retirement, Sterling pursued his passion for boating. He co-captained personal yacht deliveries with a friend and served as the Past Commodore of the Swinomish Yacht Club.
