Susan Maryann Horak, 79, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026.

Susan built a long and meaningful career in hospitality and was known for her professionalism, warmth, and remarkable ability to make every guest feel at home. She took particular pride in her work at La Conner Country Inn and deeply valued the many relationships she formed there over the years.

While she was proud of her career, her greatest accomplishments were her sons, Richard and Greg. She carried that pride with her throughout her life, and her love for them was unwavering.

Susan found joy in gardening and took great satisfaction in creating beauty around her home. She had a special fondness for the color purple and was rarely without her ruby red slippers, which became something of a signature and a reflection of her vibrant spirit.

She is survived by her son, Richard Horak; her daughter-in-law, Shelley Horak; and her granddaughter, Samantha Horak. She was preceded in death by her son, Greg Horak, and her parents, Edwin and Jeanette Primley. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is reunited with her son Greg.

Susan will be remembered for her sharp wit and well-timed one-liners that kept everyone on their toes, her strength, her tireless work ethic, and the deep love she had for her family. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
