Bob Evans

Born and raised in Anacortes, Bob has deep roots in the small-town community. Growing up, he spent the majority of his time catching fish around the Puget Sound or playing basketball on the Anacortes High School team. Being selected to play on the all-state basketball team in his junior and senior years led to a 4 year scholarship at Stanford University in California. After earning his Bachelor's degree and graduating in 1965, Bob made the move back to Anacortes.
Bob’s high school sweetheart, Joanne Linvog, became his wife and life partner in 1965. Soon after, their family began to grow. Their eldest son Rob was born in 1966, followed by Derek in 1970, and finally David in 1975. All three boys have since married and have kids of their own, making Bob and Joanne proud grandparents of 11 grandchildren.
Bob started out as a teacher at Anacortes High School, followed by 17 years working for the Washington State Ferries before settling full-time as a funeral director in 1988. Around 1965, Bob's father, Willard Evans, was pursuing his dream of serving families and owning his own funeral home. Bob decided to join him in this endeavor and together they founded Evans Funeral Chapel in 1967. To this day, Evans Funeral Chapel is family-owned and operated with 4th generation employees helping run the day-to-day business.
Serving families isn’t just a business endeavor or a job – it’s a ministry. The Evans family has held this belief in the highest regard since opening its doors in 1967. Following in his father’s footsteps, Bob has wholeheartedly dedicated himself to supporting families and helping them navigate life after the death of a loved one. Every employee at Evans, family or not, shares this guiding principle.

Cole Erikson
Funeral Director, Embalmer, Pre-Planning Counselor
Cole graduated from the University of Washington in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management. A couple years after graduation, Cole married his college sweetheart, Angela Evans. While getting to know Angela and her family, Cole would hear stories about her father, grandfather, and great-grandfather working at the funeral home and serving families from the Skagit, San Juan, and Island counties and beyond. It was apparent from the start that Evans Funeral Chapel isn't in business for business. It's in business to help families in their time of need. After 5 years amidst the hustle and bustle of their careers in the city, they knew in their hearts that they wanted to do more. They made the move to Anacortes in early 2019 and joined the Evans family in their mission; that funeral services and helping families is a ministry, and it's the guiding principle for the company as a whole. As the 4th generation at Evans Funeral Chapel, carrying on the legacy is an honor and a blessing.
In his time outside of the office, Cole enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters traveling, fishing around the San Juan Islands, and playing at the beach.

Lennie Williams

Lennie Williams spent 22 years in the U.S. Navy, flying as a Naval Aircrewman aboard the P-3 Orion four-engine turboprop anti-submarine and maritime surveillance aircraft. After retiring from the Navy, Lennie began his career in Funeral Directing and started going to Mortuary School in 2003. He was a student at Mt Hood Community College, in Gresham, OR where he graduated in 2004 with Honors. That same year, Lennie came to work at Evans Funeral Chapel full-time.
In 2014, Lennie lost his wife, Terri, to a two-year-long, courageous battle with cancer. Despite their time being unexpectedly cut short, they were able to enjoy 25 years of marriage together. He believes this personal experience with tremendous loss enables him to be much more empathetic to the families he serves.
By God’s grace, Lennie found love again in 2016. Lennie met his now-wife, Sheryl. Their family includes his son Scott Williams, his wife Rosemary, daughter LeAnn Hansen, her husband Jarrett, and their daughter Hindley, and daughter Jazmyne Krienen and husband Jack.
In his out of office time, Lennie enjoys competing in DockDogs with his world champion, Trixie, a Chocolate Labrador. As of 2020, Lennie is a Board Member of Puget Sound Dock Dogs. He also likes to go camping, fishing, spend time with his children (and granchchild!) and faithfully cheers on the Seattle Seahawks. Go 12’s!

Dorothy Conklin
Administrative Assistant
Dorothy Conklin, long time resident of Anacortes and former citizen of the Republic of Singapore, joined the team at Evans in February of 2016 as administrative support to the Funeral Directors.
She assists in database update, electronic archiving of files, obituary composition/submission; website obituary updates, registration of deaths with the State, applying for funeral honors, taking calls, and creating custom memorial folders and books for funeral services.
Her past experience includes church administration, care-giving (WA), and maritime work (Singapore). She was educated in Singapore, and after two years of pre-university decided on becoming a professional secretary. In 2002 she re-certified as an Administrative Professional with IAAP, at the Bellingham Chapter. Outside of work, her favorite pastimes are reading and playing computer games.
Dorothy soon discovered that the insight she gained from working for a family-run funeral home changed her entire outlook on funeral homes, per se. Unlike corporate funeral homes that may outsource services, a family-run funeral home does everything in-house; with care and attention par excellence. At Evans Funeral Chapel, being a funeral director is a calling. Since 1965, our funeral directors are with the family from the onset, all the way to finalization of all services. With the funeral directors so personally involved and compassionately attentive in all matters; Dorothy considers the routine administrative tasks performed for them a privilege.

Angela graduated from Seattle Pacific University in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, and a minor in Business Administration. After graduation, Angela married her college sweetheart, Cole Erikson, who also works at Evans Funeral Chapel.
After 5 years in the corporate world, there was an unshakable feeling like something was missing from daily life in the office. Drawn to a new fulfilling career that centered around helping grieving families every day, Angela and Cole decided to make the move to Anacortes in 2019.
Growing up around the funeral home, whether she was restocking the candy bowl in the arrangement room or sweeping around the front door; she learned no task was menial or unimportant when it comes to serving families during their time of need. Following in her great-grandfather's, grandfather's, and father's footsteps, she and her husband are the 4th generation to work at Evans Funeral Chapel. Above all, Angela and Cole share the guiding principle that this new calling isn't just a job - it's a ministry. Carrying on this legacy is an honor and a blessing.

Ellen began work at the chapel in 1999 after she married Derek Evans, Bob Evans' second eldest son, and moved to Anacortes. She has roots in Texas but absolutely loves the Pacific Northwest!
In addition to working part-time at the chapel, she is busy raising four of Bob & Joanne's eleven grandchildren: Ethan, Ellicia, Riley and Emily.
In her out-of-office time, Ellen enjoys hiking and traveling to new places.

In 1979, through a friend at the fire department, Doug was introduced to his friend’s sister in-law, Bev. Doug and Bev were married in 1980, and have raised their ten children in Anacortes.
Through the course of his police duties, Doug became acquainted with the Evans, and with Joe Waham, at Evans Funeral Chapel. Joe suggested to Doug, a number of times, that whenever the time came for retirement, to talk with him about working with the funeral chapel. Doug did that in 2019, and began assisting with helping families at their time of need. Doug appreciates the opportunities to have a part in caring for people and to be associated with a local, family-owned business.
In addition to his part-time work with the funeral chapel, Doug is enjoying retirement by bicycling, playing card games with friends, working on household tasks, and having fun with the grandkids.
