Mildred Carol Bushey, 99 years of age, passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family, on July 31, 2024. Mildred was born on July 7, 1925 in Anacortes to Christen and Mabel Anderson who were both long time residents of Anacortes having arrived around 1900. Mildred attended high school at Anacortes High School where she met her husband of 75 years, Loren C. Bushey . Both dated throughout high school and were married on December 15, 1943. Shortly thereafter, Loren was drafted into the Navy and was sent to Memphis, Tennessee for training. Mildred followed along and their first child, Gerald was born.

Mildred returned to Anacortes while Loren served. Several years later, Loren was discharged and returned home. There were two new additions to the family with the birth of their son Timothy in 1948, and their daughter Wendy in 1959.

Mildred was always very active and those who knew her claimed she never slowed down until her death. There were her pool ladies who went swimming every week. After they stopped swimming everyone met at Mildred's house on Monday for coffee and treats. They would all bring something special and Mildred, who loved to bake, would bake great pastries or cookies. All of the ladies gathered around her for her 99th birthday and shared coffee and an assortment of goodies. Throughout their long marriage they took many trips and no matter where they went, they eventually turned up at Disneyland. They both loved this place and always referred to it as the happiest place on earth. Their love of the Magic Kingdom is shown on their tombstone. The inscription reads, 'Mic and Minn Forever.'

Mildred clearly loved the family and she was the anchor of the Bushey family in Anacortes. She will be deeply missed by both the Bushey family as well as the Anderson family. She is survived by her three children, Gerald, Timothy and Wendy; two grandchildren, TJ and Michael; and three great-grandchildren, Alex, Wyatt and Gavin. Shawn, predeceased her.
